$AssumedRoot Variable in live site

I've developed a site for a client and created a CMS system. I used HTML Editor and DataAssist for this.

Recently the site has been put live but certain areas of the CMS are not working correctly because URLs are not correct. I've done a bit of research and found the $AssumedRoot variable is causing the problem, inserting an extra directory into the URL that was present on the development server I used to build the site, but is now no longer present on the live web server.

My question is: Is there a setting in HTML editor where I can change the $assumedroot variable without going into the code itself? And if there is will changing the setting in the HTML Editor UI overwrite my CSS and other code modifications?
