Pro Maps out of date?

Hi, Bought the extension and are very surprised about the procedure in the wizard.

Normally I go to the Google maps website and for almost 2 years now you don't need a API key at all!!!

You just point out on the map with the hand tool how your map has to look and you copy and past the code in to your web page on the proper location.
Eventually you can adjust the size so it fits perfect.

This all takes 5 minutes and you have a perfect Google maps on your website.

So my question is can I use this procedure and then use the extension for the extras on the map? Because otherwise it makes not much sense to use it .

Thanks David
