Limit user access to certain pages

I have a potential client looking for a CMS, so that each department can edit only their own pages.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I was hoping to base any work I did on PowerCMS2 or site sculptor.

I think all I need to achieve, is to filter the content list on the CMS admin home page.

Looking at a sitesculptor created site i did recently, if I add a column UserGroupID to pcms2_contents and filter this in pages.php, i can effectively remove a page from the content list, so if the person logged on is not in the correct usergroup, they will not have access this page.

Is there any developer guidance you could ( be prepared to) give ?

I am happy to hand code php & edit the database structure, but would like some tips on the best approach.

Regards
