Premium Support and Validation Toolkit with Captcha
Its been one of those (few) days !
I have been working on a simple form in CSS Form Builder. This form was created yonks ago and I wanted to apply the VTK Captcha field to it. My first mistake after using the CSS Form Builder was to edit the css file to get the presentation I needed. I then followed that with my second mistake which was to try to modify the presentation of the Captcha. I discovered the neat feature that allows you to edit the form and design. I made the changes to the Captcha and saved the result. Bingo ! all my carefull css edits were GONE . What can I say ? Well, there is an XML file that has all the required css settings and more for the form. If you manually edit the CSS file for the form then it will be overwritten by the data in the XML file when you next use the Form Builder wizard or edit the form design.
Eventually, I was able to tame CSS Form Builder and applied the Spry validations then started to look into using the validation toolkit to apply the Captcha validation.
I opened up the WA Validation Toolkit Server Behaviour, and did the following:
- Validation Trigger - Any Form Post
- Validation Type - Like Entry
- Server Variable - .......
At this point, I am lead to believe that I should be able to see the session variable for the captcha field. Nada ! I then checked the Bindings and discovered that the Session was not listed.
After going thru the process several times to see if I was making some simple mistake, I decided that I had wasted more than justifiable time on this and the next course of action was to pay $$ for a Premium support ticket.
I logged into my account and went thru the process of providing my Credit Card details and carefully explained all the steps I had taken, etc.. etc.. and bundled up a zip with the site's files. I then clicked the SUBMIT button and sat back and waited. As there were a few files in the zip, I was expecting that the upload would take a few seconds. BUT I was presented with a message to the effect that I had to be a registered user to perform the task I just went thru.
At this point I was totally destroyed. What to do ?? Did my ticket get submitted ? Did my payment get accepted ?? DUNNO !
So, I decided to submit some feedback using the WebAssist website's feedback form.
I completed the form and hit the send button. On this occassion, I was presented with a message informing me that the security code I had entered was invalid. I gave up at that point.
If Webassist have problems with their own site's forms, what hope have we ?
