show if region

I need to craft a show if region on my search results page.
In addition...
my show if region criteria is based on todays current date.

For example show if enddate is >= todaysdate.

What is the proper syntex to use for "todaysdate".

My site is in php, mySQL.
Any help would be deeply appreciated. :)
