This is just a random, stupid question lol

I know the new DFP2 changes sizes of the image, and can make a thumbnail and larger image from the even larger one uploaded.

about how much bandwidth and load on the server does this cause? or rather, how does it store the actual image and break it up into parts? i haven't had time to play around with the upgrade, and I would like to mention this to a client.

Reason why i'm asking I had thought about doing an administrative back-end for a photo gallery. I had thought about adding a user database and have users upload images to this photo gallery. I see this done all the time, I'm just getting geeky and wanting to know some specs lol
