Help please!! very new

Ok Hi to everyone firstly.
I am TRYING to do my first webpage, I have designed in CS2, spliced what needs to be but
when I go into dw cs4 and insert tables etc, it is as though my page size is double what my actual design is ie I have HEAPS of spare room to the left and right.
I have read about the size editing tab but I cant change any thing.
PS... I got sore eyes and neck from spending so long on this (but still great fun)
any help would be excellent
