using testing server issue

Okay you testing server experts, I have a question for ya. I have been working on a site, using xampp as my testing server. My folder is in the htdocs (that is where I originally created it). Testing has been going smooth until I added lightbox, when I attempt to test lightbox, it just opens the window in a new page....everything else sitewise works fine. After messing around with it forever, I copied the folder to my desktop....didn't change a single thing inside of the site files. Opened up my site definition in DW and pointed at the new copy on the desktop as my new root folder...ditto for the images folder. With the folder located on the desktop and the testing server connection killed, the lightbox works fine.... I was puzzled.. so I switched the def back to the folder in hdocs and same problem. Does lightbox just not work on a testing server? I can't find any other possible issue..
