MySQLi not selectable in recordsets

I have downloaded and installed mysqli

In Navicat I created a new connection and can see the tables and contents required.

I created a new new php file

In Dreamweaver I opened the tab for databases and can see the new connection I created in Navicat. When Test is selected, the message box states Connection was made successfully.

In bindings I tried to create a new recordset but when I click on Connection from the drop down no Connections show.

If I click on Define I can see the connection required, I highlight this and select done but once again when I select the dropdown arrow there is no connection listed.

I also tried on local host to open a previously working page but recieved another error

Warning: mysql_select_db() expects parameter 2 to be resource, object given in C:\xampp\htdocs\boatsforsalenow_mysqli\BoatAdsFree\boats_Insert.php on line 109

Warning: mysql_query() expects parameter 2 to be resource, object given in C:\xampp\htdocs\boatsforsalenow_mysqli\BoatAdsFree\boats_Insert.php on line 111

In the extension manager I can see MySQLi but cannot seeMySQL. I do need to keep my previous pages working.

Thank you
John
