getting error your file has no extension and will be opened in code view

I am having a problem using security assist with dreamweaver cs6 After getting all the setting completed and click ok to create the pages, I get an error "this file has no extension and will be opened in code view. adding the extension afterwards allows the page to be opened, but the code is all above the header.
