regisytration and logged in

couple of questions
On the attached user updfate page, how do I filter based on the logged in status? For example, if I wanted to use an if statement how would I do it?
And on the same page, I only want the password to be changed if the user wants to change it but if they are left blank then the existing password is retained in the db. I have set a hidden field for Password but not sure how I would get it to update depedning on whetehr the visible fields have content or not.
