PowerCMS HTML editor buttons greyed out in Firefox

I have an older PowerCMS2 installation on a client's website and they are using Firefox. They were pasting styled text from Word and it was creating huge amounts of additional code so I told them to paste as plain text or paste from Word to get rid of it. However when they click in the HTML editor window, some of the buttons are immediately greyed out including the paste buttons.

I just tried upgrading CKEditor to the latest version but it caused the HTML Editor to disappear completely (I'm guessing because it's an older version of PowerCMS and the latest version of CKEditor). How can I fix their Firefox issue? I did tell them to use Chrome instead but they don't want to! Oh, and I tried it in IE and although the buttons are available, when you click Paste as Plain Text or Paste from Word, the paste box doesn't pop up.
