MySQLi recordset variables

MySQLi recordset variables

Hi,

I have an issue with passing a string from a selection box to a MySQLi recordset.

I have set the Type: to Text from the drop-down options and the method is POST in the recordset for the search (The PK in the table (varchar) can be a number or a combination e.g. "1003" or "FF-875").

While the finished code works perfectly well in our testing environment, on the live server I get "Error in SQL syntax". This error only occurs when using anything other than a Integer in the recordset.

Any ideas why it's fine on the testing server, windows 10 machine running PHP5.4, mySQL5.7 and Microsoft server, but not on our live server running Unix, PHP 5.6, MySQL 5.5.48? Is there an issue in the bindParam in a mySQLi recordset when using strings?

Grateful of any help please.
