Adding a discount code

I am trying to add a discount code to my shopping cart. I have the form setup in the cart to accept the code. I have a session variable to hold the text code and another session value to hold the value of the code. But I am stuck setting up the discount code in the eCart object. I created a discount code. The trigger is total number of items >0 and if the session variable promocode == Webassist. I am not sure how to connect the Webassist value to the discount record, although I do have the record being found based on the text input on the form.

Finally, I need to subtract the discount value from the cart's subtotal. I have the drop down for "Calculation" selected on the cart subtotal and the cart subtotal set to minus a value. How do I set the value to be the value in the record set?
