Web host has closed port 3306 - is there a work around to making a MySQL connection?

Because of this, making a Dynamic MySQL Connection is a major challenge....
Working with Dreamweaver locally, MySQL databases are all remote at the hosting company.

Can WebAssist suggest an alternate way to make this connection and begin using Data Bridge?

While I respect the web host company and their efforts to keep their servers secure, this has stopped me in my tracks.

Their response: "We upload the files to via FTP and view the work directly on the server instead of through any editor." That's fine, but the solution I'm working on is dependent on using many of the features in Data Bridge.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!
