navigation tab depending on what page

Hi there, ok I got a question relating if this is at all possible as Im just planning and wondering if its even possible.

...the idea is to have my main menu navigation in a seperate php file (which I can then use a php include to place it on each page...this is simple to do) However...I want to go once step further and want the meny tab to be highlighted depending on what ever page the user is on...So for example:
index.php will have <?php require_once('plugins/menu.php'); ?> (the menu will be a series of tabs) So when the user is on the index.php page the "Home" tab will be highlighted or if the user is on the contact.php page then "Contact Us" tab will be highlighted on the menu) But Im scratching my head if this is at all possible. As the usual way to do highlighted tab menus is to put a class="selected-tab" inline css on the associated menu tab link.

Any thoughts?

Chris
