Hi there, I dont know if this may be useful for you, But what I am doing a a complete website redirect to SSL...Im doing the whole website as a secured HTTPS since google is adding https to their SEO algorithm and its stated that in the future they may put more weight on a website having HTTPS so better search results. So I guess there is no harm in doing it now.

so in your .htaccess file add the following code:

RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.your-domain-name.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.your-domain-name.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

The above code also handles redirect of non-www to www URLS :)
