My firewall got stupid, please help anyone?

Hi

I am a stupid person when it comes to pcs. I bought a firewall...app, that was from the college I went to. And after that and a checking for viruses, I could no longer use firefox or yahoo messenger. I manually deleted them and downloaded them again, turned off-turned on my PC a few times, but nothing is working. I keep getting a message that something needs to be done with my fire wall and HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP ports.

Recommendations any of you?
