mySQL Database setup

I am new to WebAssist SS, PHP and mySQL. I am attempting to setup a PowerCMS page and need a database from what I have read.

I have setup XAMPP and I think I have it running. I can open phpMyAdmin but do not know what to do there (if anything). I have connected a database somehow (?) in DW 5.5 but in the Database window the word "none" appears under Stored procedures, Tables & Views. I have attempted to attach the database under MySQL Connection in DW and have tried all kinds of combinations for MySQL server entering the name, full path, etc. and same thing for the database field. I seem to have done somethng right as I do have a new folder "Connections" appearing in my localhost site that contains a .php page with what was the name I was once calling my database while setting it up in DW. I have some screenshots if needed. I have tried my XAMPP and phpMyAdmin user name & passwords but nothing seems to make a real connection while setting up in DW.

My website has been moved to reflect the new XAMPP location under c:/xampp/htcdocs/website_name/ which is where the sample database (ecomm sample from WebAssist) is located. Also I have not done anything to edit the downloaded WA database yet. I have read about error messages and one of the latest ones is "MySQL error#: 2002 php_network_getaddress: getaddrinfo failed. No such host is know" but haven't been able to determine how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
