Menu extend beyond items

Menu extend beyond items

I have a search page that has a few pulldown menus on it: gender, party and precinct.

All of this are in a table called variables, each as a column, each column with rows of values.

The gender column has values in 2 rows, party in 3 rows and precinct has 100 rows.

The search page generates the menu options from the proper columns, but there are multiple blank options beneath the gender and party columns. None beneath the precinct column.

Is there an easy way to have these menus populated only with rows that are not blank?

I could put each variable type into its own table, but is there another way?
