An unexpected solution....

Once the menu is in place on the page click on the Layer icon that will be somewhere near the menu block seen on the screen and the Properties comes up. Very nice. Just a misunderstood tutorial and not quite as slick as it could be.

Now if only the Dynamic menu properties supported Access / MS SQL and similar instead of complying with the PHP only policy I'd be much happier.
