Redirect to home page after login

The client is asking if its possible to redirect to the home page after a successful login.

The login page has two Security Assist Authenticate User behaviours and I can see where the redirect function is on both.

1. Which is the correct way to achieve this?

2. If this is implemented what will a customer see after clicking login. Will it be an instant rediredt to the home page with no "You have been logged in successfully" message.

3. Is the redirect affected if the "lLog me in automatically" tickbox has been previously selected.

The site is now live so cant test the various options to see what happens.
