First thing to double check is that the email is not being trapped in your spam folder.

there are many possibilities of what could be wrong.

Who is your hosting provider?

IN universal Email, click on the Envelope icon to access the email server settings. depending on your hosting provider, you may need to enter an email server address and port.

you may need to set the email object type to pear mail for smtp. and you may need to enable authentication.

there is also a setting to include the from address as an additional parameter, this may need to be checked.

what are you using as the From Address? in some cases, the from address will need to be a valid email address for your domain.

are there other behaviors on the page that could be redirecting before the email is sent?

Can you send a copy of your form page please so i can see the code, along with a copy of the webassist/email folder in a zip archive.
