Line 110 No space between attributes [HTML5]

A message similar to the above is generated when using the w3c validator on a page using the login_basic_default behaviour using xamp running on a 64 bit win7 machine. It picks two lines in particular, and they are very difficult to find, as server lines and dreamweaver lines have different numbers.
The cure is to start looking around the line that starts "The password doesn't meet the specified strength." and look up and down for sets of </span><span class=
Change them to </span> <span class= (note the space between the > <)
After that the page should validate OK.

I have also found that while the login page works fine in a browser, it is impossible to get it to run in Dreamweaver live view, which makes it very difficult to run and debug pages that depend on values set within the login page.

Can anyone tell me how to set more session variables at the login stage. I need three from the same table, but am loath to change the code in this complex page.

Lastly, is it possible to change to encrypted passwords this without re-constructing the whole page.
