Site Import freezes host every time

Site Import freezes host every time

[Preface: the high cost of entry to this software (compounded by the too-short timeline for returns), the complexity of operation, the lack of adequate no-cost documentation and help, and the interface glitches really make it hard to remain calm when I STILL can't get good results with a program that's supposed to be so bloody brilliant. (you'll pardon me if you understand production deadlines)]

I have tried everything I know of to set up a site import simple enough to make sure I'm not overtaxing this command, but it has frozen Dreamweaver EVERY SINGLE TIME I've tried it. Which is a total of about 10 times over 4 work sessions. After outright failures (freezes after about 5-10 min on a few sites I first tried . . . they contained enough "bulk" (e.g., webfonts, php, jsquery, etc.) that I was not completely surprised), I then started trying single-page imports from sites ... Same result: file-writing starts, but ceases after 5-10 min., Dreamweaver becomes unresponsive. Next, I moved some simple trial sites into my local MAMP directory and ran Site Import on a local file. I got everything this time, even had a report open in Safari, but Dreamweaver was frozen. And just tonight I tried again with a drop-dead simple internet page: single page, no dynamic links. Again, file retrieved, and very fast; a report generated and opened in Safari, but Dreamweaver frozen.

I've actually done a fresh install of Dreamweaver and reactivated WA stuff because I moved to a brand new computer 3 days ago. But the behavior of Site Import is unchanged.

What can I do?

Thanks,

- Dan
