Customer Order Reference Numbers

Hi all,

I just wondered if ecart could do the following?

When a customer finishes a transaction, they recieve an order reference number e.g

Thank you for your order your reference number is 9823750.

Then with this number they can track thier order. Is there a way this number can be dynamically generated and inserted in my order details table as well as displayed to the customer on a confirmation page? or do I have to manually create this number with each order?

I'm sure this has a simple answer but I can't work out how to do this.

Many thanks in advance.
