Data Assist and magic quotes

Dear WebAssist,

Can I ask does DataAssist use magic quotes to prevent SQL injection when searching updating inserting records etc? The reason I asked is I am getting the magic quote showing up in everything. i.e were " isn't " becomes " isn\'t ".

My understanding is most hosts have this turned on as default which mine was. I spoke to my host support who told me they turned it off on my server but I am still getting the backslash with all apostrophes used.
