More elegant .htaccess redirect for secure site
Hi all,
I had set up a global redirect in my htaccess file so that all unsecured (http:) browser requests were redirected as secured (https:). This works well, except for the page containing the Google map.
As a temporary fix, I removed the global redirect and now only have the CHECKOUT page redirecting to an https version, which leaves the user in a secured site once they hit the checkout page and through the remainder of their session.
This feels "kludgey" to me -- to use a highly technical term. I'm wondering if I should keep the global redirect and then just direct the Google map page to a non-secure page. If so, that is where I hit the wall, because it creates a circular redirect -- trying to secure it and then unsecuring it.
Any suggestions on a better way to handle this?
