Build a user registration system

Dear Jason
I wish to build a registration process/system which will do the following;
Built a simple registration form so visitor can register and this information is stored in a database. When they register, they will be sent a confirmation email asking them to confirm their existence - by clicking on a link it will authenticate the e-mail supplied and also update the database. The e-mail will confirm their username and password (this is optional).
The visitor will then be able to log-in a visit other part of the site that are not open to non-registered visitors – a bit like the Web-Assist website.
I have attempted to do this with CSS Form Builder, and Security Assist, but, nowhere in the ‘Getting Started’ files is there a guide for doing this completely.
There is no help on creating the confirmation e-mail. You can create a log-in system with Security Assist and an e-mail with CSS Form Builder, but how do you build the confirmation e-mail which when clicked will update the database and make the visitor active and allow him/her to login and access the parts of the website non-registered visitors may not visit. Is there a tutorial or guidance notes on preparing this type of registration. This was the type of stuff I was hoping to do with Web Assist.
You will see from my previous threads on the subject it has been a frustrating experience trying to build this confirmation e-mail/registration process
Can you help me out?
