CSS styles on edit page messing up toolbar

I've got some long standing, somewhat complicated CSS files I use to style the backend of my client's sites. When I implemented the new HTML Editor to my existing forms, I'm getting a funky issue where each of the items in a toolbar is right justified and on its own line. Because the editor is produced with javascript, I'm unable to 'view source' in the browser in order to track down the offending CSS code interacting with the editor. I've removed the CSS file entirely, and that does the trick, though that's not an option. Any quick hints on what to look for to track down the culprit?
