Thank you for letting me know there will be a fix. I look forward to it.

I see where you are going with patch you included above, but unfortunately when I implemented it, while the icon is there, it does not function. Onclick just hangs, I'm not sure why. (I am using Safari, since we produce Mac software, we code for Mac OS functionality, so perhaps that is why.)
See here for what I mean ...

But I have developed an inelegant but functioning work around...

I created a little javascript function (linked to from the header in the file <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery/javascripts.js"></script> ) to handle the window format

Here is the function...

function openFB(theText, title) {
window.open("http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=" + theText + "&t=" + title, "fbWnd", 'width=600,height=400,resizeable=no,scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,copyhistory=no');
}

Within Social Media Toolkit I can simply replace the facebook link manually to this ...

<div class="icons"> <a href="javascript:openFB('http://www.gamebanshee.com/editorials/101332-game-of-the-year-2010.html', 'Avernum 6 Award');"><img border="0" src="webassist/social/icons/facebook.png"></a>
</div>

This works, although I'm not entirely sure why ... here is a copy of my page but with the version that functions ...

Thanks.
