not applicable when not using a link though?
When I remove the iRite option, and simply insert text-area form data into an ntext field, I don't have to set the character limit in the parameter. Why does that work?
Like I say, I've created quite a few INSERT and UPDATE forms in my time, that insert into ntext fields in an MSSQL database and I've never, once, had to specify, manually, the character limit.
Regarding DataAssist, we were told that not using parameter values, in INSERT or UPDATE commands, is vulnerable to SQL Injection. As we recall, that's the very reason why Adobe/Macromedia updated the Dreamweaver software, some years ago, to include parameters.
