Data Assist - Connection problem

Data Assist - Connection problem

We have been having the following error when making an online MySQL database connection using the DataAssist 2 wizzard in Dreamweaver to a Linux server: "An unidentified error has occurred"

We have reported this to the hosting company and they have responded in the following e-mail: "The MySQL server can only be accessed via scripting on the server or via the online tool. It appears you trying to connect from Dreamweaver which is not possible.

Remote access can be setup but we would need a static IP address from the ISP the computer is connected too. We would then allow this particular connection access. "

Does anyone have any suggestions please?
