Date Picker for Data Assist?

How to search by date without timestamp hour, minute, second data.

I am currently using the simple date picker on my orders table backend but I am experiencing trouble searching the records by date. The date of the transaction is recorded as a MySQL timestamp which creates a date like this: 2010-08-18 16:19:08. My question is, how can I search my records based on date while ignoring the hour, minute, and seconds stamp? Is there a way to use the PHP "explode" function to modify the simple date picker so that I can search my records via date more easily?
