Phone verification too restrictive on one page but ok on another

Phone verification too restrictive on one page but ok on another

I have two pages which work fine other than a anoyance on the phone verification on one of them which works fine on the other.
On the profile page, if the user enters a phone number which is not exactly in the correct format it expects it will not accept it. for example 1111111111 is not accepted but (111) 111-1111 works.

On the registration however 1111111111 will work fine and will even be automatically displayed as (111) 111-1111.

Both of these pages were originally generated by security assist. I then used CSS form builder to create better looking forms, and then moved the features of the security assist pages to the new form pages.

Is there a way to change the verification for just the phone number on the profile page, to make it work like it does on the registration page which works so beautifully?
