Site Sculptor - Adding New Page from Template, Linking the new page

Addition of New Pages on Site Sculptor

Jason,

Thanks for the note, but you have to keep in mind how you told me the CMS works. The highest created page based off of a template replaces the original and subsequently created pages. If I have created five pages, I would have six in total (the five created plus the original). The CMS would display the sixth page if I access it from the menu, not the original.

The CMS sees "page.php" and "page.php?page=5" as the same page. If I misspell the parameters, the CMS will display the latest created page. If I refer to the correct ID number, I will get the correctly CREATED page. However, the ORIGINAL page has an ID number of NULL.

The problem occurs when we want pages in the menus to refer to the original pages. The menus refer to the pages as "page.php", and will subsequently display the latest created page. That's what we are complaining about. If the scheme of creating "new" pages is going to work, we have to find a way to force access to the original pages through the menus generated by Site Sculpture. That means altering the menus after the fact to hardcode the URL's of the original pages. I was able to do this by referring to and ID number of NULL (the double quotes), or a slash. There are other special characters, but not all, like an asterisk, that works also.

I think it might help to clarify how to address how to access the original pages from the standpoint of the menus. Your advice on accessing the page ID of a created page was very helpful, and will help us advise end users how to get the correct page ID if they happen to delete pages out of sequence.

Thanks.
