The error you are getting about the FTP is referring to your site settings in DW. In the testing or remote server where you have specified FTP settings DW is stating that there is a problem when trying to connect with them. You should open up DW and change these settings, maybe you could set it to local access, then activate Security Assist and try to make use of it again. If you get the errors again let us know. In my experience it is best to manually FTP the files up to the server and not to rely on DW to do this for you.
