Horizontal Menu with Dropdowns not working in IE7

neilo

Hi Greg,

Sorry for delay, I missed this one -that's what comes of being over-confident.

So, with utter lack of confidence, here is my final solution which definitely works, but probably won't. No it will, honest. Maybe.

Assuming that all your pages will be using the cssmw1 menu, clean up between the head tags by removing references to unused menu css/js.

Revert the (now one and only) IE conditional to lte IE6. (We make IE7 just work with the regular menu.css).

The entire menu-related includes/links in the head area are now just these:

<script type="text/javascript" src="CSSMenuWriter/cssmw1/menu.js"></script>
<style type="text/css" media="all">
<!--
@import url("CSSMenuWriter/cssmw1/menu.css");
-->
</style>
<!--[if lte IE 6]>
<style type="text/css" media="all">
@import url("CSSMenuWriter/cssmw1/menu_ie.css");
</style>
<![endif]-->

Remove the 4 lines 50-53 inclusive from ul#cssmw1 > li > a, ul#cssmw1 > li > a:link in cssmw1/menu.css - They are:

border-bottom: solid 1px #f0b478;
border-right-style: solid;
border-style: none;
color: #f0b478;

Line 50 is redundant because of the changes being made to the level-1 (below) the rest just don't do anything.

Change the level-1 rule to these:

ul#cssmw1 ul.level-1 > li > a, ul#cssmw1 ul.level-1 > li > a:link {
background-color: #f0b478;
background-image: url("../cssmw1_images/topNavDropdown.jpg");
border-top: solid 1px #f0b478;
color: #644b32;
display: block;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: .7em;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: bold;
margin: -1px 0 0 0;
padding: 5px 0 0 5px;
text-decoration: none;
width: 150px;
height:20px;
outline-style: none;
}

That's it. Guaranteed not to work. (It will though).
