I followed the offered link to the other thread and spent some time reading others opinions. I, like a lot of you, own quite a few of WA's extensions and solutions - they make my work a lot easier. I did not subscribe to the extension library because I already owned the extensions and to subscribe would force me to pay a fixed cost EACH year in order to continue to use the extensions. By purchasing them direct, I could still use the extensions at ANY time , even if I had not purchased the updated version.
I understand WA's concerns, but the added cost of buying a license for each site I work on would force me to use other methods to create my sites and NOT use WA's extensions. I do own other extensions that do a variety of things similar to WA's and they were not purchased from WebAssist. I choose the best method to achieve my goal with the least cost to my clients......that is how I KEEP my clients. If my costs go up (which of course it would be passed on), then my business profitability would very well also GO DOWN. That is a concern to me.
I purchased Power CMS (along with Power Gallery) in order to offer clients who wanted editing control of their sites without knowing HTML and associated technologies. I do now have to put that line on hold until the licensing is straighten out....since it will cost proposed clients hundreds of dollars more that I thought it would......which means that business could be lost......unless I think of a new way to implement this.
