Please check on these settings to see if they are configured properly and also do a test of the pages to determine if you have sessions working properly. Please post back and let us know what you experience.  

The information from my phpinfo page is as follows:
session.save_handler files files
session.save_path /var/php_sessions /var/php_sessions

The information from the test pages:
First Page:
the value of the session variable test is: test var
array(1) { ["test"]=> string(8) "test var" }
go to next page

Second Page:
the value of the session variable test is:
array(0) { }
back to first page

I do have access to the php.ini file.
