Sorry Dani, it is a permissions problem after all. i was looking at the admin folder which was set to 755 but when you go into the folder they are all set to 644. Unfortunately, i know how to fix the problem now but i can no longer access the site, i re-put the entire site in case the problem was a missing file but in doing so i stopped the site working altogether.
When i try to access the site i get the message:
Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Access denied for user 'latineyes_user'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/latineye/public_html/Connections/latinsite.php on line 9
Fatal error: Access denied for user 'latineyes_user'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/latineye/public_html/Connections/latinsite.php on line 9
My database has been imported and it can be seen in cPanel. I did get this message the first time i transferred all the files to the host but the hosting company did something which seemed to fix the problem.
I've just emailed them to ask them to do the same again as they were able to fix the problem before. They suggested i check if the correct mysql details are input in the site script (mysql username / password / database name) but i don't know how to check this or rather i don't know what i'm comparing it against. can you give me some advice on what i need to do to fix this problem and prevent it happening. I don't really want to get this problem every-time i ftp an updated file. many thanks
