I would like to compare / validate if the gift card number is valid

That looks correct to me.

You can test it by adding the code below the recordset:

php:
if (isset($_POST["BokningPresentkortnrID"])) {

 die($Recordset1->TotalRows?"found":"not found");
}



If that shows "found" when a good id is entered and "not found" when a bad code is entered, then that part is correct.

The next step, once that is working, is to add server validation and you can use number validation to validate the value of <?php echo($Recordset1->TotalRows); ?> to validate that it is greater than zero.

Just copy and paste the recordset code you have above the validation code because it will be in the wrong order by default. Then you can use the server validation to show an error message on the page when a bad code is entered.
