Log In application

I need some information:

I have designed an Admin Backend and the administrator creates the user and sends the username and password to the user email. I have added a column to the users table called "firstLogon" with values Yes or NO. What I'm trying to accomplish is when someone login for the first time they are taken to the newPassword page to change their password and if that's not the first time they are login, they are taken to the user_Profile.php page.

How do I accomplish this.

2: I would like to Deactivate an account. I have added a column called accountStatus with values Active and Deactivated in the users table. What steps can I take to accoumplish this.

Your help will be appreciated.
