Hooking up mysql database from publishing server to dreamweaver

I went to Dreamweaver > Site > Manage Sites > (my site) > Servers > (hooked up ftp connection in basic tab successfully) > Advanced > Testing Server > Server Model: > PHP MySql (selected from drop down) > (saved).

Then went to Dreamweaver > Window > Databases > (clicked plus sign) MySql Connection
Added this information below:
Connection name: hardware_test (read online that it doesn't matte what you call it)
MySQL Server: 66.71.244.154
User name: hardware_test
Password: ******* (added the database username password here)
Database: (tried clicking on the 'Select' button and adding hardware_test)

Could not connect and received the error:
An unidentified error has occurred.

I cannot find anything online telling me how to hook this up correctly. I really need a step by step process showing how to do this so I know what I am doing wrong.
