Start with the dreamweaver database tab and get the connection to work there.

There are basically three settings that have to be correct for a database connection to work.

First in your site definition. You have to have a "testing" server defined
1) The root folder of the testing server has to point to the root of your web site
2) The site url has to point to the same folder. You should be able to coply/paste the web url from your testing server and view it in a browser to see your site.

Don't move on until that works.

3) Then you can go to creating a database connection. In that window you just have to be able to enter your database server name, username, and password correctly. Make sure that the "Test" button shows a success message.

Don't move on until that works.

Now you are ready to open up a webassist interface and connect to the database.

Let me know if that helps or where you get stuck.
