PowerCMS Installation Wizard fails on Step 1checking file permissions

PowerCMS Installation Wizard fails on Step 1checking file permissions

I created a generic site in Site Builder so that I can play around with PowerCMS and setup a demo for a partner to check out. I highlighted the text between the div tag with id of top navigation, then go to webassist, cms, add content to powercms. I create my datasource using the define, and complete the wizard. All files got uploaded, including the connection defined in the connections folder via ftp successfuly.

However, when I go to the website to do the initial installation I get the following error after doing the File Permissions check:Files and directories cannot be created. Verify the ../ directory has write permissions on your server.
Please make sure the ../Connections folder has write permissions on your server.

How can this fail, if I was able to upload the files onto the remote server?

Thank you in advance for any assistance I get,
