I also bought into the "WA Extensions" do everything for you before purchasing software from WA. I also found it's not straight forward for the novice, to the extent I've purchased the software and have not used it at all. In fact I've turned work away as I just have not afforded the time, or been able to grasp some of the concepts of creating DB's along with Admin access etc.
Although I have tutorials with say "Coldfusion" most of my customers want to run the websites on their own host and it's likely that the Application Servers will not be running ColdFusion so there seems no point in learning it. However, that's another story so will leave it there.
The amount of times I'm asked for the facility to provide the client with a "news" page they can update at their leisure is incredible and I' really need to learn how to do this. It's probably very simple to do as well.
Anyway, I digress once again, but is there any "example" code available which for instance, creates an admin login page, once logged in displays a page populated with controls to add records and functions to add, remove, edit and delete records should you so require and a final, update stage to write the content to say a MySQL database along with supporting code like PHP to invoke the updates etc. This would be very helpful for me for sure.
This thread has certainly spurred me on to get my act together and get it sorted as I thought I too was a bit thick trying to understand Data Assist etc.
Thanks to the OP and everyone who has seen fit to help. ;)
