Feedback to user when entering a 'bad' adress

I have a page with a map and a form where the user can enter an adress to get driving directions. If the user enters an invalid adress and submits the form he just get back the page with the map and the empty form. Is there a way to inform the user that the adress he entered was 'bad', no driving directions were generated and the user should enter a valid adress?
