Recordset paging - show last page on page load

Hi there.

I have a standard repeat region, showing 10 entries per page. The dataset is ordered by date (ascending).
I am using the WA_MySQLi_RS() class to do this, the MySQLi recordset paging tool.

By default, the first page shown is the oldest date (the first record of the query). What I want to do is show the last page when my webpage first loads.
You may suggest that I "ORDER BY date DESC", but I don't want this. I still want ascending order, but just want to view the last page.

Is there an easy workaround you can suggest? A line of php that moves the index to the last page before I display / load the webpage?
