If Dreamweaver pulled the native "Database, Bindings and Server Behaviours panels" we could create our own. We just can't justify reinventing the wheel when there is an alternative available for free. Same thing goes with the DMXZone Extension manager. We would be forced to create one if they hadn't decided to give theirs away.
I suppose it is true for any add on provider that their business can go away on a whim if the parent company decides to stop supporting it, but that would seem unlikely. We have been doing this for almost 20 years and Adobe is trying to monetize the extension developers and not get rid of them entirely.
The thread you pointed to was one of many about CC 2015. It does link to another thread that suggests the DMXZone extension at thread #14.
I've also added a direct suggestion to that thread to use the DMXZone extension manager.
